Shin chan starts a mysterious daily routine, traveling between two worlds: the Village in Akita and Coal Town.

Hiroshi is suddenly given an job assignment near his hometown in Akita. So the Nohara family make their way to a small village near Hiroshi’s parents’ home and rent out a traditional Japanese farmhouse. Nestled in this tranquil rural landscape, they begin their carefree and quiet life in the countryside.

Ginnosuke, Shinnosuke’s grandfather, bestows the mysteries of country playtime by teaching Shinnosuke how to catch bugs and fish. A highlight of every evening is when the family gathers around the sunken hearth to savor delicious Akita dishes. In the village, Shinnosuke talks with farmers and makes new friends. Every day, he’s enjoying life to the fullest until…

One morning, Shiro shows up at the house covered in soot. As a confused Shinnosuke looks on, Shiro suddenly dashes away…! Shinnosuke chases after Shiro until, stopped before him, he notices a mysterious train he’s never seen before. Shinnosuke follows after Shiro and accidentally boards this train.

The mysterious train stops in a lively and prosperous town that seems to have been frozen in time since the Showa era. In this town called Coal Town, there are energetic working-class people going about their day. After meeting a mysterious young girl, Shinnosuke becomes friends with these people. And so begins Shinnosuke’s newest adventure…!

Hiroshi has to go on a business trip to Kyushu, so now the entire Nohara family has decided to stay with an childhood friend of Misae’s in Assou, Kumamoto.
But when they arrive at Kumamoto Station on their way to Assou, they meet a strange man who offers them an even stranger camera on the condition that they’ll act as his witnesses…
With his new camera in hand, Shinnosuke can enjoy his summer vacation in the beautiful Assou fields and mountains to the fullest. The scenery is even crawling with creatures that he would never find in Kasukabe. And there are townspeople to help and new friends to make.
That said…don’t these kids look an awful lot like the ones he knows from home?

One cool summer night, Shinnosuke witnesses a giant creature outlined against the light of a full moon. Next to the creature is a strange man with a wide smile.
It’s the same weird man who gave him the camera at the station…
And he calls himself the Professor Akuno. Following this encounter more and more strange things start to happen around Assou…
